Superlite roadbike

This bike is made from Cedar and Sycamore: Cedar is very light weight but strong, Sycamore slightly heavier but tough and with a nice figuring in the grain:OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

here we are riding on the south downs in England:

the frame is Cedar with walnut detailing in the wedges I have used a Ritchie barOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The drive train and brakes are Campagnolo which give a very smooth shiftOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

this is the rear mech and how the chainstays and seatstays meet up. The rear forkmount and dropouts are brown anodised aluminium.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAthe front forks are laminated from Walnut and Sycamore. I dont use Cedar here as its not strong enough. The forks are bolted each side of the steerer tube. the steerer tube is steel and travels right through the fork top block.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAseatstays are finished with walnut detailing in a pointed arrow motif which simply says that ‘this could not have been machine made as it would be impossible for a machine to do but must have been done by hand’. same with the motif at the headstock end.
